Dividing Phlox

Technique all depends on what type of phlox you’ve gots.

Q. I planted some phlox last year . They have, however, taken control of one section of my garden. How do I transplant part of the phlox into the other area of the garden?

A. In regards to your phlox question, different kinds of Phlox transplant differently.

If you have Creeping Phlox, it is best just to prune the plant tips back. If you have Garden Phlox (which are upright plants with summer flowers), you can simply divide or transplant your plants on a regular basis. It is best to do all transplanting when the plant is dormant or just starting to grow (only a couple of inches high). So, now is the time or you will need to wait until fall for best success.
