Overwintering Water Garden Plants

Q. Each fall I remove all my tropicals from the water and store them in large water containers in my basement under a grow bulb, but invariably they loose their vegetation over the winter months, my pond is about 4000 gal., and I have a 4800gph pump going 24/7. My question is do you think it possible that these plants, ( Tarrow, Calla, Papyrus, Lotus etc ) would survive if left in the water all winter ?
-Toronto, Ontario

A. With the possible exception of the lotus - the taro, calla, and papyrus would not survive the winter if left in the pond due to your northern location. The lotus wouldn’t be guaranteed to survive however.
