Q. I have just purchased Ludwigia grandulosa for my pond. Is this a plant placed in rocks(no pot) for the pond edges or should it be potted in soil? How deep in the water should this plant be if placed, such as over the pot or just the base of the pot in the water? I have gardened all my life but water gardening is new to me. Thank you for your help.

A. Your Ludwigia grandulosa should be planted near the pond’s edge. If it’s potted in a plastic container, you should remove the pot before planting it. It’s not a true aquatic plant but will look lovely near the pond’s edge. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy water gardening!
